Modeling of accumulation of fluid borne particles upstream of conduit constrictions

The paper describes the simulation of particle laden flows in conduits with focus on analyzing the phenomenon of partial blockage of the flow path by large particles upstream of constrictions in the conduit. The features of the procedure are calculation of particle and fluid motion in the Lagrangian and Eulerian frames of reference respectively, finite particle size effects on inter-particle and particle wall interactions and calculation of smooth momentum source terms for the fluid.
